IK/Rowers Progression March 18th, Nisqually River

Hi guys,

Nisqually River this Saturday, March 18th, for the progression.

The progression ( class 2+ / 3-) meets at the Yelm Hydroplant (at 14020 Yelm Hwy SE, turn north and follow Hydroplant Rd to the bottom of the hill) at 11:00am. This is the take out. We will consolidate rides and boats as folks arrive to minimize the number of rigs that go to the top. We will be running from McKenna Park (35617 Spanaway McKenna Highway - 100 feet east of Walts Bar) back to the hydroplant which is class 2+ / 3-. Helmets, drysuit, life jackets are needed, please read and follow American whitewater safety code. If you have any questions let us know.

There is ample parking at the hydroplant and at the McKenna park. There are porta potties at the hydroplant and rest rooms at the park. If you have not done this stretch of river, it might be helpful to take a walk down the hill to the river to see the takeout eddy. It has been missed before. There will be lots of people to help so if you need advice, help or a ride please ask!!! Once there make friends and help pack boats ;)

We plan to do a formal safety talk at the put in once everyone is there. Please make sure to attend. We will then break into pods of similar craft to float the River. We will be working on ferry angles, eddy stops, boat spacing, river signals and throw bag work. These are fun trips, but take longer than usual. Snacks, water, spare clothes are recommended. We will stop for a break halfway through the trip. Depending on water lever, the trip will take around two hours - give or take.

Please help if you can. Thanks!!!!
