SUMMARY:White Salmon Retreat 7-12-25 @ White Salmon River
DESCRIPTION:White Salmon Weekend \nWhite Salmon River   7/12/25 and 7/13/25 \nCampground available July 11 @noon to July 13 @ noon \n\nEvery July\, WRRR descends on the White Salmon River for a fun weekend of fast whitewater and sunshine! \nWe run the section from BZ Corner to Northwestern Park. \nhttps://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/detail/3064/main \n\nJoin us on the beautiful White Salmon River. The White Salmon is a narrow river flowing through a collapsed lava tube\, with lots of great geology\, pool-drop rapids\, sidewaves\, waterfalls\, wild flowers and grasses. \nWE suggest paddle rafts\, paddle cats\, inflatable and hard shell kayaks. Big cat boats and loaded rafts do not work well! \nWe will be meeting Saturday at the BZ Corner Put-in\, Saturday at 10:am. Shuttle leaves shortly thereafter. \nThe river is a pool drop Class 3+ with optional Class V Husum Falls. There is a  portage around the falls by lining your boat around. It is fairly straightforward\, but it does take some skill. \nWhen staging at BZ\, DO NOT launch way early and clog up the river access. Many commercial outfitters and other users need access too. It is super easy to keep your boat at the top. Get dressed\, shuttle\, drag your boat down to the river\, get your PFD on and then launch…then paddle into the safety eddy. Identify and launch with your safety pods in small groups so we don’t get into each other’s way. Thank you for your consideration! \nCamping is available Friday and Saturday nights at Hollenbeck Park\, 33 Mt. Adams Road\, Trout Lake\, WA ( off Hwy 141 to Mt Adams about ½ mile north of the store/restaurant/gas station) \nIt is such a sweet campground\, with grass and a great view of Mt. Adams\, plenty of shade\, with room for games and a creek to cool off. \nSome years they have guests Thursday night\, so please respect others if you are arriving earlier Friday. Camping is free for WRRR members. Guests should pay $10.00 per night \nThere is a Sunday trip going TBD at camp \nTrip Leaders: Nancy Douty\, Randy Rogers\, Candice Larson\, Aaron and Kat Birrell\, WRRR Board \n

SUMMARY:May 31st\, 2025 Wenatchee Rendezvous
DESCRIPTION:THE BOB JOHNSON MEMORIAL WENATCHEE RENDEZVOUS\nCamping is Thurs May 29th 4pm until Monday at noon June 2nd (weekend after memorial day). \nSHOTGUN START 1130!! ! A group picture will be taken at Drunkards Drop.  We will eat lunch and meet at lunch island to regroup.   Mark will call Riverbooty when we leave lunch island. \nCome join your fellow WRRR members for our annual Bob Johnson Memorial Wenatchee Rendezvous. Be a part of the greatest flotilla of inflatable boats on the Wenatchee followed by camping\, raffle prizes\, and a potluck dinner.  Bob Johnson was one of the founders of WRRR\, and every June we get together at the Wenatchee River to celebrate WRRR and its founders. \nDon’t Miss It! WRRR does need your help with volunteering! We need prize table helpers\, raffle ticket sellers\, and Camp cleaners still!!!! \nBoating: The main float is Saturday morning for some Summertime Class 3 fun! \nSaturday:\n-The main meet is at the Dryden gun club at 9am for those camping\n-For those not camping\, meet at 10 and set shuttle from the put in on East Leavenworth road. (From the Safeway in Leavenworth follow East Leavenworth road .7 miles up to the public access with a big parking area.\n-The main flotilla Saturday is launching at 11:30am.\n-Call any board member and we will relay the information to others and try to help you out. You may also coordinate with other boaters on the wrrr.org/forum and/or WRRR’s Facebook page. The shuttle is a game of skill\, so make sure you coordinate well and pay attention! \n-After the float\, come to the Dryden Gun Club for the after party! Find Repo\, where we will have a sign in for members with raffle tickets for sale. Cash donations for non-members appreciated. If you are not a current member\, sign ups will be available.\n-7:00pm Potluck Dinner at camp\n-7:15pm General membership meeting and prizes! \nTHE RUN: Please remind your people of the dangers of the DRYDEN DAM! This is a drowning machine. The safest way to navigate is to portage on river right. There is a cart to assist that WRRR negotiated to have there a long time ago. There is an alternate way (experts only) to run left of the lowhead staying far away from the drowning machine. It is IMPERATIVE that you make sure your Pod understands what is going on. Please be careful not to lead other boating groups astray. Thankyou for your consideration to this matter. The Dryden dam can be easily scouted by heading north at the BIG Y Café and then heading right at the “fishing access” sign just before the bridge across Peshastin Creek. If this is your first time running the Wenatchee please contact a trip leader and they will be happy to assist you. \nSAFETY: Please follow the American Whitewater safety code. PFD’s\, Helmets\, Wetsuit\, Etc. The weather should be great so pack some water and a lunch and enjoy the day. Please pay attention to the boaters around you. With the big flotilla fun also comes some danger in the form of you getting lost in the group. Please make sure that 2-5 people are looking after you and you are looking after them. Boating in many pods in the main group are our key to success. There will be an official WRRR lead boat launching at 11am. \nThere will be Friday and Sunday trips also depending on interest. Check the gun club\, trip leaders\, or FB Groups for Friday trip planning. Sunday plans will be made in the campground Saturday night or Sunday morning. In 2013\, there was a trip at 7am\, so you never know unless you create it! \nMost folks run the Wenatchee but there are some other nice rivers nearby\, like the Chiwawa\, Entiat\, Methow\, Icicle Creek\, and Peshastin Creek. If your schedule is tight\, hit the Sky on your way home. There’s plenty of runs on the “WET” side of Hwy 2. River runs ranging from class 1-5 abound in the area\, so there is always something for everybody. \nCamping at the old “gun club” RIGHT NEXT TO THE DAM PUT IN (Big Y Cafe area):  We will have WRRR signs at all the turns starting at the road. We request that you keep dogs on leash and police their do-do. This camping is first come first serve. We ask that dogs be on leash or in a vehicle during the potluck/raffle. Please pickup after your pooch and respect other peoples areas. Keeping your dog on leash or in a fenced area guarantees that Pet doodoo is picked up and everybody has a great weekend. Please be courteous to our neighbors. \nSaturday Night Potluck Dinner: We will be having a great meal\, but we need your creative and wonderful campfire cooking skills. You bring food and your own beverages. WRRR will bring paper plates\, recyclable utensils\, cups and napkins. Dinner is at 7:00 PM on Saturday to allow time for the raffle and general membership meeting. \nAnybody with a Dutch oven will be coveted this evening. If you aren’t sure what to bring the following is a suggestion for the type of dish to make or bring. If you have a specialty or preference please bring what you like. Last name begins with: \nA-P Main dish\, P-R Side dish or salad\, S-Z Dessert \nRaffle: Following dinner on Saturday at the gun club\, the club will raffle off some great river gear. You can buy your tickets at the campground before the raffle starts (or you can buy tickets from the treasurer after the raffle is over for half price!)  Hope to see you there! \nWRRR will have portable toilets at gun club area. \n

SUMMARY:New Year’s day Jan 1st\, 2024!!! @ Cedar River
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on the Cedar River for a leisurely float and lots of fresh air. It is a great way to start the New Year! \nThe Cedar is a Class 2 river with Lots of little waves\, nothing scary. The biggest challenge is to stay out of the trees and branches along the bank.  Depending on the water level\, it is a 2 to 3 hour paddle. It is a lovely river to practice your strokes and get ready for a new season. \nIt is an easy drive from Seattle.  NOTE: This is a different location than the past few years. We are meeting at Nancy and Randy’s house because of a river wide log downstream. \nWe will meet at noon at Nancy Douty’s house (22731 Dorre Don Ct SE\, Maple Valley – phone  425-413-0948). We put in at Landsburg\, and some people walk over to the park to run the slalom course first. We usually have between 2 and 25 boaters\, depending upon the flow (and maybe the weather\, but it’s Washington\, you know) \nNancy recommends you wear as many layers as you can under your dry suit as possible so you will stay warm. We often have chili and/or stew or something to warm you after the float. If you like\, bring something to share. And remember to bring you own beverages to stay hydrated. \nHope you can join us and start the New Year boating with WRRR at the Annual Hangover Float!! \nTrip Leader:  Wrrr board and Nancy 425-413-0948
