We will meet at the river\nand BBQ at the takeout weather permitting.\nCamping is available at or trip leader’s house near\nArlington 30-40 minutes from the Sauk river. We\ncan move the BBQ there depending on group dynamic.\nThe Sauk is an excellent intermediate whitewater\nrun. Depending on the flows it can be friendly or\n“mean and green”. Don’t hesitate to contact our\ntrip leader if you’re not sure your up to it — he\nknows it well and can help you make the decision\,\nand may even have room for you in his raft. We\nwill eddy out more if new folks are on the run that\nday. \nKEY TIMES: Meet at Darrington IGA at 10 a.m. We\nwill decide then which takeout we’re taking and\nwill drop off cars on the way upstream to Whitechuck. \n  \nIf river levels are too low or high\, we will\noften run the lower Sauk\, Skagit\, or maybe the\nSuiattle.\nPut-in launch time will be 11:15 a.m.\nTakeout\, run\, shuttle\, light BBQ!!! SUMMARY:40th Annual Carey Berger Memorial Poker Run August\, 3rd\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 40th  annual Carey Berger Memorial Poker Run!  TONS OF CAMPING THIS YEAR!!!   Check it out….    Camping opens July 29th and checkout is August 5th at NOON.  Some people will boat on Friday\, but the real fun begins on Saturday morning – buy your poker hands for $5 each at the put-in\, and build your prize-winning hands as you float the river with your friends.   Card Station #1 is at the put in where you can get more information and purchase your poker hands.   Stations #2-5 are along the river in different eddies and beaches.    Pay attention\, stations come up fast!!  At the end of the day (7pm)\, we have a great potluck and pass out the prizes to poker hand winners. \nPoker stations generally launch between 9-930am.  Most floaters launch from 0930-1130am.   The sweep boat launches between 1130-noon. \nThere is no planned lunch at station 3 this year so make sure to bring your own and paddlers \nPotluck and prizes are at 7pm!!  This is a game of skill.  If you miss the prizes or a station you will play a hand short!!! \nThis is always a great family event.   The camp will be busy\, we ask that you help us accommodate all campers by sharing and not reserving camps. If you have a camper or RV\, please make sure you are prepared to share tent sites next to where you camp. \nThere is free camping for WRRR members ($10 donation for non-members). Lower Goodell Creek group camp is just across the road from the put-in\, and is separated into two parts. The upper and lower loops.  Please keep noise down after 10pm.   Please make sure coolers are locked in a vehicle or bear box.   Last year the parks confiscated several coolers left out. \nCarey Berger had cerebral palsy\, and it didn’t stop him from enjoying whitewater events.   Carey was one of the original trip leaders of this event in 1985. \nNOTE: The map shows the put-in\, not our group camps.

SUMMARY:White Salmon Retreat 7-19-24 @ White Salmon River
DESCRIPTION:Every July\, WRRR descends on the White Salmon River for a fun weekend of fast whitewater and sunshine!  We run the Section from BZ corner to below the old Northwestern lake.  https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/view/river-detail/3064/main \n\nBig cat boats and loaded rafts don’t work well!   When staging\, DO NOT launch way early and clog up the river access.  Many commercial outfitters and other river users need access too.   It’s super easy to keep your boat at the top.  Get dressed\, shuttle\, get your PFD on and then launch and paddle into the safety eddy.  Identify and launch with your safety pods in small groups so we don’t get in each others way.   Thankyou for your consideration! \n\nJoin us on the beautiful White Salmon River. Camping is at Hollenbeck Park and free for WRRR members. **We will be meeting Saturday\, at the BZ Corner Put-in\, Saturday at 10am.** Shuttle leaves shortly thereafter.  The river is a pool drop Class 3+ with optional Class V Husum Falls. The portage/lining is fairly straightforward at Husum falls\, but does take skill. It is usually best to keep boats moving and regroup in the Eddie’s below the footbridge just around the corner. \nThe white salmon is best run with light boats or paddle rafts and IK’s / Hardshells. Boats require some effort to get to the bottom at the put in. \nCamping is available Friday and Saturday nights at Hollenbeck Park 33 Mt Adams Road\, Trout Lake\, WA (off Hwy 141 to Mt Adams about 1/2 mile north of the store restaurant) Some years she has guests Thursday night so please respect others if you are arriving earlier Friday! \nThere is a Sunday trip going TBD at camp. \nTrip Leaders: Aaron and Kat Birrell\, Nancy Douty\, Randy Rogers\, WRRR Board

DESCRIPTION:Thank you all for helping us with the 2023 Green River cleanup!! \nSave the date for the 40th ANNUAL Green River Cleanup!!!! Saturday 5-4-24 \nJoin WRRR\, Paddle trails\, OWA\, WKC\, BeWet\, Nature Nuts\, Boy Scouts\, MGRC\, WA state parks\, and other several local clubs (If we missed your group let us know!) \, neighbors and friends at the 40th Annual Green River Cleanup on Saturday May 6 \n4th!!! Every year lots of outdoor enthusiast enjoy the day recreating along the river\, and cleaning up trash at the same time. As always\, there will be lots to do for boaters and non boaters. River stretches are rated class 2-4. The last 3 years proved that we will boat no matter the flow! Hiking and ground crew sections are available from flat trail to adventurous river corridor cleaning. We found some huge trash areas and have local neighbor’s helping out as well! \nRegistration at the Headworks goes from 9:30AM-11AM. At Kanasket-Palmer State Park\, you can register from 9:30AM-11:30AM. Help us clean up the Green River and keep it one of the most beautiful rivers you can raft. Cleanup volunteers will enjoy free camping at the Kanasket-Palmer State Park group camp on the Green on Friday and Saturday nights.   We also have camps 1-14 for large groups and RVs.    Please rsvp \nWRRR will also be hosting a BBQ at Flaming Geyser Park (Picnic shelter #3). BBQ goes approx. 4-6pm.   WRRR will be providing Burgers\, Brats\, and main course foods.   We welcome you to bring side items potluck style!    Food is provided at no cost.   We encourage donations but they are not necessary. \nThere will be a DUTCH OVEN DESSERT COOKOFF\, this year just like years past. IT will be held at 8:30pm at the Kanasket Palmer group camp. Show off your D.O. skills and impress your friends. SUMMARY:New Year’s day Jan 1st\, 2024!!! @ Cedar River
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on the Cedar River for a leisurely float and lots of fresh air. It is a great way to start the New Year! \nThe Cedar is a Class 2 river with Lots of little waves\, nothing scary. The biggest challenge is to stay out of the trees and branches along the bank.  Depending on the water level\, it is a 2 to 3 hour paddle. It is a lovely river to practice your strokes and get ready for a new season. \nIt is an easy drive from Seattle.  NOTE: This is a different location than the past few years. We are meeting at Nancy and Randy’s house because of a river wide log downstream. \nWe will meet at noon at Nancy Douty’s house (22731 Dorre Don Ct SE\, Maple Valley – phone  425-413-0948). We put in at Landsburg\, and some people walk over to the park to run the slalom course first. We usually have between 2 and 25 boaters\, depending upon the flow (and maybe the weather\, but it’s Washington\, you know) \nNancy recommends you wear as many layers as you can under your dry suit as possible so you will stay warm. We often have chili and/or stew or something to warm you after the float. If you like\, bring something to share.
