Join us to help cleanup the Nisqually River Watershed April 11th, 2026
The Nisqually River Cleanup 2026, an annual joint project of Washington Kayak Club, Washington Recreational River Runners and Paddle Trails Canoe Club, to help clean up the Nisqually River once again. This is our seventh year of what we now consider to be an annual event. As in past years, we are undertaking this cleanup with support from the Nisqually River Foundation and other partners, including Thurston County Public Works, LeMay Pacific Disposal, City of Centralia, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), American Whitewater, American Rivers and its National River Cleanup® Initiative. We will boat the river, stopping to pick up trash along the way.
There will be options for two different river sections, McKenna to Yelm class II-III, and Yelm to 6th Ave SE class I-II. We are looking for trip leaders for the each stretch.
Meet at 9am at McKenna Park to drop boats for those running the upper. Or at 9am at Yelm Powerhouse Plant for those doing the lower. Please check in and sign necessary waivers prior to launch. Be ready to shuttle by 10:00.
There will be a BBQ after the float at McKenna Park at 3:30. Please bring something so yummy to share if you would like.
