November 2022 Board Meeting Minutes

  1. Call to order.    7:02pm Repo, Nancy, Tamie, Brenan, Erik, Randy
  2. Review minutes and approve as corrected.  (Grammar)
    1. Check previous month’s action items
    2. Minor update to October meeting minutes.
  3. Review agenda
  4. 160 members (141 members last month, highest ever 167 in March 2020)
  5. Standing Committee Reports
    1. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Rebecca/Brenan.  Diversify Whitewater and WRRR teamed up.   DW funding is good for the foreseeable future.   Brenan will forward any updates on needs or events.
    2. River Watch – Rebecca Post.
      1. Repo, Nothing to report.
      2. General discussion:  A boat got hung up in a logjam at the Green River.   BrianV got the boat.   Maybe we can get the story when the boat is returned.  We would like to know who they are and what happened.  There is some wood in DejaVu at the left to watch.
      3. Middle Sauk river has no new wood.
    3. Safety and Education – Rebecca Post.  Repo needs to get on the 1st aid class.  Nancy believes in her!
    4. Communications – Brenan Filippini.
      1. Brenan will ask David to help updated the renewal form to automatically opt in to share roster info.
      2. Discussion of the Waterlog’s future.  Nobody has stepped up.  The Board will try and auto email and create content as needed / time allows.
      3. Nancy will call Round table for the Jan board meeting.
      4. For the Jan membership meeting, Nancy already reserved the claim jumper for 6-9 in the patio.  Brenan updated the event.
    5. Membership – Tamie Stonke.  Tamie gave out several new member forms at the gear swap and on several Skagit trips.  Nice work!   She is getting opt in on sharing Roster information as well!!!
    6. Programs and Volunteers – Erik Smith.  Nothing to report.
    7. Mail pickup/Meeting reservations -Nancy called and there is a credit card statement, receipt from Tieton toilet, and some other stuff.
    8. WRRR Wear – Rebecca Post.   Did the T shirt guy get back from vacation?  Yes, Nancy reports response from vendor is that the order is too small, and he is too old (In good spirits).  WRRR (Nancy and Repo)  will add some stuff to the order before new events of 2023. He has Poly Ts, and should be able to do the super shirts.  WRRR will also beef up hooded sweatshirts in plain and maybe Tye-Dye.
  6. Events
    1. Sauktoberfest roundup (10/22/2022).   It was fun, we did the Skagit since the Sauk River was so low.  Pics made it into the waterlog.  Some people hit the river 3 days in a row!! Over the weekend saw eagles, bear, Salmon and other magical Pacific NW stuff
    2. Misc River Ops.  Randy is On vacation for the rest of the year!!!   Excellent work! Next Ops event is the Green River Cleanup.
    3. General discussion sidebar:   Rivers are up.  Sauk, Green, Skagit, and several other rivers have been run in the past couple weeks!
  7. Old Business
    1. Election Committee status.  Ballots are coming into the election committee. Tamie mentioned that Duane H will be on the board for 2023!!!  Awesome!
  8. New Business
    1. VP Business reminders (See manual)
      1. Schedule board meetings for next year.   Discussion.   Jan is covered.
      2. Set up agenda events table.   Repo will ask if David would be willing to help us update during the audit meeting.   (early december)
      3. Club website hosting discussion.   Randy was going to get a demo on Club Hosting.com, but ironically the site is down!  Tabled for now.
    2. Nominate audit committee.    Repo, Tamie, Brenan and (Repo will ask David if he can join to help some .org stuff at the same time.)
    3. January board meeting restaurant reservation.  Nancy will call round table Renton.   The club pays for pizza for WRRR members!  All members are encouraged to come!!!
    4. January general membership meeting
      1. Restaurant reservation.  Nancy completed at the Claim Jumper Tukwila, Brenan updated the website event.
      2. Agenda.  Repo will create
      3. Food.  WRRR pays for appetizers.  We will order when there based on turnout. Every member is encouraged to attend!
  9. Waterlog articles needed by 11/20
    1. NOTE: Make sure Brian verifies receipt of articles.  Yes, Nancy needs some updates.  Brian’s final Waterlog issue.  Great work and thankyou for so many years of service!!!
    2. VP River Ops – New Year’s Day Float full article.  Updated and sent.
    3. VP River Ops – Tilton Trek full article.  Complete, except camping is pending.    Ike Kwinswa is closed.   Much discussion of possible alternatives.   The board will look into  Miller-Silvania is just outside of Tumwater, Winston Creek Campground,  Riffe Lake Campground,  Tilton River State park?,  Mossyrock park has 152 campsites,  Lewis and Clark state park, Mayfield Lake Park, Taidnapam Park, etc.   Some may be closed in winter.   Using Cispus as a backup river.   The board will circle back via email. Brenan will update website when we have more info.
  10. Announcements and good of the order
    1. Brenan saw Rhino and passed along the WRRR letter.    He received it well and seemed to be doing well.
